Project Description

Project Description:

This $157M Bypass project was completed nearly $10M under budget and 9 days ahead of schedule – truly an excellent project outcome!  The project involved the construction of 18 bridges and associated drainage and electrical and safety improvements to provide a highway bypass for commuters and trucks who can now use Highway 65 rather than drive through downtown Lincoln, CA.  This team formed an outstanding partnership between the joint venture contractor partners (DeSilva Gates Construction and Flatiron Construction, Inc.) and Caltrans District 3 by meeting quarterly for partnering sessions and using monthly scorecards to track the goals on this project which included more than 250 contract change orders (valued at over $15M) and finished with no unresolved claims.  This project received a Ruby Level 2015 John L. Martin Partnered Project of the Year Award and received the Caltrans Excellence in Partnering “Best in Class” Award for being the top Partnered project of 2014 larger than $50M.
