Project Description

The State Route 76 Project was a 1.3-mile rehabilitation and widening of a highway in San Diego, CA, with a unique public/private partnership. The project team needed to work collaboratively with four environmental agencies, Caltrans and the Pala Band of Mission Indians, to secure permitting for this project. Ultimately, the $21.2M project was completed $3.7M under budget, 15 days ahead of schedule, with zero claims and an excellent safety record. The team used Executive and Core team partnering quarterly to overcome significant environmental constraints due to endangered species in the region and resolved a full redesign of the Horse Creek Bridge. This project received a Caltrans Gold Partnering in Motion Award and a 2010 Ruby Level IPI Partnered Project of the Year Award.
