Project Description

The RSA R/W 10R Paving and Lighting Project, part of SFO’s Runway Safety Area (RSA) improvement program, was the first of several RSA projects at SFO that brought the airport up to compliance with FAA design standards.

Project Challenges:

The project lengthened the 10R runway 800 feet, required paving, excavation, grinding, soil stabilization, aggregate base, cement treating, utility relocation, lighting, and new taxiway configuration. The electrical and navigational aid work on the project was also quite substantial for the contract time allotted.
